Dakingari takes oath of office

WINNER of last Saturday guber natorial rerun election in Kebbi State, Alhaji Saidu Usman Nasamu Dakingari, on Wednesday, returned to his former seat as he took an oath of office administered on him by the Chief Justice of Kebbi State, Justice Ibrahim Umar.Dakingari had earlier taken his Certificate of Return from the state Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at about 4:02 p.m., after which he took the oath of office, with Colonel Muhammed Hammanga (retd) standing in for the INEC national chairman, Professor Atahiru Jega.Dakingari's swearing-in ceremony was attended by his former arch-rival and his predecessor in office, Alhaji Adamu Aliero, as well as members of the Senate and House of Representatives from the state, including Senator Atiku Abubakar Bagudu, Senator Magoro Mahmud, Senator Tafida Umar and others.The Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Muhamm Adu Illyasu Bashir, was also in attendance as the father of the day.Dakingari, in his acceptance speech, thanked the people of the state for what he described as overwhelming votes they cast for him to return to office, just as he vowed never to disappoint the citizens of the state, friends and well wishers, as he would continue to pilot the affairs of the state.He specifically commended the candidates of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), All Nigeria's Peoples Party (ANPP), Alhaji Kabiru Tanimu (SAN) and Abubakar Abubakar respectively.
