Twitter Reacts to West Ham's Monday Night Football Win over Newcastle

Published by Bleacher Report on Tue, 15 Sep 2015

With the return of Premier League football after the international break came the return of Monday Night Football, as Newcastle United travelled to face West Ham United in a clash that matched up old adversaries Slaven Bilic and Steve McClaren. The latter lost his job as England head coach after defeat to Bilic's Croatia prevented England from qualifying for Euro 2008, but a mutual respect exists between the two.Slav on Steve: "Treat the guy with respect. Steve did really well in his career, he knows football, very polite. I respect him a lot." Jack Pitt-Brooke (@JackPittBrooke) September 14, 2015Everyone's favourite television duo Gary Neville and Jamie Redknapp were also back, providing various avenues of entertainment as they dissected the weekend's action.Fascinating Mon Night Football. Agree Chelsea defensive problems run deeper than just the back 4. But in many ways, Matic was superb on Sat John Cross (@johncrossmirror) September 14, 2015Brendan Rodgers has an obsession with Four Weddings and a Funeral: pic.twitter.com/uvp3oUf8Ad (via @alibendertv) Paddy Power (@paddypower) September 14, 2015Jamie Carragher saying "Coutinho and Firmino" is absolutely sensational. Visitors have parked the bus...a mile from the stadium - because of terrible traffic - and walked the rest. Delightful buildup play and finished exquisitely by Payet. Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) September 14, 2015Payet looks like the player United fans were hoping Anderson would be. If he doesn't discover Nandos he's got a bright future. Nooruddean (@BeardedGenius) September 14, 2015The goal was also good news for Chelsea, where a Newcastle win would push the Blues into the unrecognisable depths of the relegation zone.Chelsea fans celebrate as West Ham go 1-0 up against Newcastle Simon Johnson (@sjstandardsport) September 14, 2015The first half ended 1-0, goalscorer Payet running the show.Dimitri Payets first half for #WHUFC on #MNF. pic.twitter.com/aWCaPWhWve Bleacher Report UK (@br_uk) September 14, 2015This is really uninspiring, apologies to all those relying on us to put Chelsea into the bottom 3 #NUFC Lynsey Hipgrave (@lynseyhipgrave1) September 14, 2015With the second half underway, it didn't take long for man-of-the-moment Payet to double the Hammers' lead, following a powerful break from new loan signing Victor Moses.Payet 2-0 Newcastle. pic.twitter.com/gqcmRCNFR5 Bleacher Report UK (@br_uk) September 14, 2015Brilliant game from Victor Moses, showing #Chelsea what they're missing.
