Nigeria's Cole to fight as undercard in Mayweather/Cotto bout

NIGERIAN-Born boxer, Gift Cole, would leave for the United States today ahead of his welterweight clash with Black-American Dion Savage in one of the supporting bouts in the Floyd Mayweather/ Miguel Cotto title match on May 5 in Las Vegas.Gift, while speaking yesterday with sports journalists in Lagos, assured that he won't let himself and Nigerians down."I have not lost before since I turned professional likewise Dion, who had 14 fights so far but Iam well prepared for the fight and it is a must win for me. I expect a tough fight. I have watched Dion fight before on 'You Tube', he is taller than me but I believe he will fall latest in the third round by God's grace."It is not an easy thing to be considered for an undercard bout for an important title fightinvolving Mayweather, and I would make best use of this opportunity to sell myself to the outside world," said the SouthAfrica-based boxer.Gift, (6-0), who hails from Abia State further revealed that his main preoccupation was to go for a title fight soon."I hope to go for the WBA Africa title fight after the May 5 clash and I will work towardsachieving that with the support of my manager," said the product of the Federal Goverment Technical College, Adamawa, who described his left hook as his major asset in the punch for punch trade.Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Achievas Promotions, Chiori Paul Cole, who is managing the boxer, said that "Gift's victory would as well open door for other young and talented professional boxers in Nigeria to get better opportunities to hit limelight"Also speaking, Secretary General of the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control, Mr Remi Aboderin, said that NBB of C, was highly inspired by the chance being given to the Nigerian boxer to fight at that level, saying that "he (Gift) has the potential to rule the world in boxing some day given his exploits so far".
