Trade fair renews rivalry among telecoms artisans

ARRANGEMENTS for the first ever Telecom Trade Fair have reached the final stage of preparation, even as two rival participants have signified their readiness to participate in the event.The fair, which is three-day event, starting from today to 27 in Lagos, according to the organisers, the Nigerian Telecom Awards, a subsidiary of Logica Media Group.As part of sensitisation and mobilisation campaigns for the event, the organisers, led by the Managing Director of Logica Media Group, Mrs. Yinka Oguntoyinbo last week, were at computer village Ikeja to address the traders on the importance of the three-day event.Oguntoyinbo addressed the traders on the expectations at the trade fair. She intimated the traders of the immense benefits that participation in the trade fair will bring to them, adding that the media advantage is one benefit they cannot afford to missShe said: 'The Theme of the Trade fair is in consonance with the most current initiative of the Central Bank of Nigeria, the cashless policy, and that is why we have carefully chosen the theme of the Trade Fair as 'Moving Nigeria Towards a Cashless Society,' adding that the trade fair would afford many market women and traders to get acquainted with the workings of Mobile Money.On whether the mobile money operators have been informed of the trade fair, she answered in the affirmative, saying: 'Both the Nigerian Communications Commission and the Central Bank of Nigeria have given their best assurances to be a part of the event.'Other operators of mobile money expected at the occasion includes Paga, GTBank, Pocket Moni, First Bank among others' Oguntoyinbo added.Meanwhile, Association of Computer and Allied Products Distributors of Nigeria, CAPDAN with its corporate headquarters at the computer village Ikeja has equally been fully intimated about the trade fair even as the association is mobilising its members for the big event.
