Best school in WASSCE receives award

LUMEN Christi International High School, Uromi, Edo State has for the third time received the best school in West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) award at the recently concluded West African Examinations Council (WAEC) annual award.The award, as contained in a statement made available to The Guardian, was presented to the Principal of the school, Rev. Fr. Dr. Theophilus Itaman by the Vice President, Arch Namadi Sambo who represented President Goodluck Jonathan at the ceremony, formally presented the school as having the best (WASSCE) in 2011.The award presentation was part of the activities marking the 60th yearly Council Meeting and anniversary of WAEC recently held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja to recognize outstanding performances by students in the May/June 2011 WASSCE.In 2007 and 2009 respectively, the school, which was established in 1986 by the then Archbishop of Benin City, Most Rev Dr P.E Ekpu, received same award beating its counterparts all over the nation.The WAEC Registrar, Hajiya Mulikat Bello said: 'The award points at recognition of hard work, while the gesture was one of the major objectives of the council's endowment fund.
