The Lions were losing 45-10 at the time of the announcement, so it was unlikley he would return even if healthy.The Lions have a bye in Week 9 before returning in Week 10 against the Green Bay Packers.Johnson Has History of Nagging InjuriesJohnson has avoided any major injuries throughout his career, never missing more than three games in a season since being drafted in 2007. While there's always some luck that comes along with durability, it's also a testament to his warrior mentality. He wants to make his presence felt each Sunday.He's battled some nagging injuries in recent years, though. In 2013, he fought through knee and finger problems. Last year he missed three games due to an ankle injury that had hobbled him for several weeks before he decided to let it heal.If the latest issue causes him to miss time, the Lions will lean heavily on Golden Tate to serve as the top target for Matthew Stafford. Things are less settled beyond that, but Eric Ebron could develop into an option for Stafford.Of course, the Detroit offense can't be expected to produce at full capacity until Johnson returns to full strength.
