Kwara raises task force on govt land

The Kwara State government has constituted a task force to assess the level of encroachment on government land situated along the Asa-Dam road in Ilorin.Mr Tope Daramola, the Director of Bureau of Lands, said that the land was meant for reconstruction of a new state secretariat, metropolitan square and water corporation.Daramola, who made this known during a tour of Asa-Dam River boundary, frowned at the level of encroachment on government's land by members of the public.He stressed that the taskforce was to ensure actualisation of government policy thrust on land development in the state.Members of the taskforce included the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Mr Olabode Olayemi, Surveyor General, Lamidi Oyebode and other stakeholders.Olayemi, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, who led the team, appealed to the State Head of Service, Mohammed Dabaraku to take full possession of the area so as to check further encroachment on the land.He also warned people against buying uncertified land, adding that government would not condone any act of fraud in land related matters.Olayemi called on the management of the state Water Corporation to secure the government land in its care to prevent further encroachment by the members of the public.
