Omolewa to deliver lecture at Adekunle Ajasin varsity

NIGERIA'S former Ambassador to UNESCO, Prof. Michael Omolewa, will on May 23, deliver a public lecture titled: 'The Imperative of University Education in Africa: The Adekunle Ajasin Saga,' at the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State.The late Ajasin was Governor of the old Ondo state from 1979 to 1983 under the platform of the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN), a party led by the late Chief Oabfemi Awolowo. The UPN successfully implemented a Free Education policy in theSouth West region of old: Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Lagos and Bendel states, where it held power at that time.Omolewa, an international scholar, who retired from the University of Ibadan, was President of the UNESCO General Conference in 2003.
