ACF meets Jonathan over Boko Haram

The leadership of the Arewa Conasultative Forum (ACF) last night met with President Goodluck Jonathan over increasing attacks by suspected members of Boko Haram sect in the North.Briefing State House Correspondents after the meeting, Presidential Spokesman, Reuben Abati, said leaders of the ACF have assured the president of their support in the fight against the sect.He said ACF told Jonathan that the forum has taken steps toward resolving the issue by setting up a committee which will make its report available to government on completion of its assignment.Also speaking, ACF Chairman, General Jeremiah Useni, said the forum is in support of the proposed dialogue with the sect.He said, 'even when you are fighting with somebody you have to sit down one day to talk.'On the recent comments credited to the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, over 2015 election, Useni said, 'I don't think there is any war going on. If you say anything and I disagree with you does not mean we are fighting, we are not fighting anybody.'Abati said Jonathan assured the northern leaders of government's readiness to collaborate with the forum. Other members of the forum at the meeting include former Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Coomasie, former Katsina State governors Saidu Barda and Brig. Lawrence Onoja, among others.
