Katsina to introduce mock exams for final year students

THE Katsina State government has concluded plans to introduce mock examinations to improve the standard of education in the state.The state governor, Ibrahim Shema, disclosed this on Wednesday, while speaking on the achievements recorded by his administration in the last 12 months in the state.Shema said the examination would prepare final year students before writing their National Examination Council (NECO) and West African Examination Council (WAEC) examinations, as those who passed these examination would be qualified to get their examination fees paid for by government.'You have to introduce some mechanism, because if you don't introduce some levels of control, you may lose the point, however, the government would continue to pay their fees to encourage them to strive to attain standards,' he stated.On investments, the governor said his administration had reaped over N9 billion as interest in the last four years from deposits in banks.He added that 'till date the government has not borrowed a single kobo, all these projects carried out by government have not been funded by any local or foreign loan, but from the state meager resources.'Similarly, on the alleged insinuations that inherited projects were abandoned, Governor Shema said all inherited projects were completed within the first two years of his first tenure in office.
