Technician in court over allegation of stealing

A 22-year-old man,charged with stealing, was recently arraigned over the theft of a radio CD player valued at N20,000.Ayo Olabode, who resides in the Obalende area of Lagos, pleaded not guilty to the charge.The prosecutor, Inspector Rita Momoh, told the court that the accused was given a radio CD player to repair by one Mr Felix Imasuen on March 23.She said that the accused allegedly took delivery of the radio, kept it in his shop and told the complainant to come back for collection after one week.Momoh told the court that the complainant failed to go for the collection at the agreed time as he had travelled out of Lagos.She said that on his return a week later, he went for the collection and the accused told him that it had already been collected by a young boy who claimed he was sent by the complainant.According to her, the complainant, who was furious, allegedly slapped the accused, saying that he had not introduced anybody to him to collect the radio on his behalf.The prosecutor said that the accused was later arrested by the police.She said the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos State.Magistrate M.O. Tanimola granted the accused bail in the sum of N10,000, with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case to June 13 for substantive hearing.
