Police offer N1m, seek killers of 4 officers in Ekiti

THE Ekiti State police command has announced a N1 million reward for any information that could lead to the arrest of robbers that killed four of its men at Ilasa, Ekiti East Local Government Area of the state, at the weekend.A statement by Victor Olu Babayemi, the state Public Relations Officer (PPRO), made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, on Thursday, said 'information can be provided through any of the following numbers: 080-23705471, 08126281782,' while he assured that 'any information provided will be treated with utmost confidentiality.'The statement, with reference number AZ:5300/PPRO/VOL.3/38, dated May 30, 2012, added that 'the command is working frantically to ensure that the perpetrators of this heinous crime are brought to book. 'The command is offering a reward of N1 million to any person(s) with useful information that can lead to the arrest of the bandits.'Although the statement by the police did not state the number of people the robbers shot dead in the bank raid that threw Ilasa community into pandemonium, it was gathered that four policemen were shot dead in the operation, in which the robbers were said to have attacked the station from the back.Three policemen were killed at the station, while the fourth was shot at the entrance to the bank, just as one civilian was felled by stray bullets as the robbers left the town.
