Alaafin lauds Sanusi over banking reforms

THE Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, has described the reforms introduced by the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as a revolution, which would make the banking institution to be healthier and competitive.The Alaafin, who stated this while receiving the CBN boss in his Oyo palace, described Sanusi as a rare gem and a worthy ambassador of the royal family members in the country and beyond.'Many say that you are controversial, and you must, because of your position. But much as your critics have complained, none of them has controverted the fact that you are a round peg in a round hole. Nobody has ever faulted your track records. Your economic policies have been superb and nobody has been able to fault them.The monarch remarked that the royal family members across the nation were proud of Sanusi's outstanding performances, noting that he was the first CBN governor that would tell members of the National Assembly that its expenditure was above normalcy, and that unless we streamlined our expenses, the nation would continue to fumble in the woods.'You are the first CBN governor to let the nation know that the spending of the National Assembly was over the board and that unless we reverse the trend, the nation would continue to be in the woods. That unless we control our expenditure and the way we spend money, the nation would be in problems, and that is why Nigeria is in problems', Alaafin said.Sanusi expressed appreciation to Oba Adeyemi for the commendation and promised never to disappoint Nigerians and the royal members that he represents.'I assure you that in everything I do, I am conscious of what Nigerians hold of me and my family, and I pledge that up till the end of my tenure, I will not do anything that will tarnish the image of the institution'.
