Olympics qualifier: D'Tigers round up training in China ... Storm USA, Brazil for GB, 4-Nation tourney

THE Nigeria senior men basketball team D'Tigers will Today round-up their training tour of China where the Coach Ayo Bakare tutored side played six build-up games ahead of the London 2012 Olympics Qualifying Tournament slated for July 2-8 in Caracas, Venezua.Three players and two coaches (Michael Ohiero ' Royal Hoopers, Stanley Gumut ' Customs, Abubakar Usman ' Kano Pillars) and (Coaches Ayo Bakare ' Head Coach and Sani Ahmed ' Assistant) penultimate Wednesday left Nigeria for China and were joined by two assistant coaches (Tim Shea and Dominic Okon) and eight foreign-based professionals led by team captain Olumide Oyedeji.The Nigeria senior national side which is aiming to make its first ever appearance in the men's Basketball Event of the Olympics Games began its build-up with three wins over Foshan Long Lions basketball club on the June 9, 10 and 13 by 84-54, 74-47 and 110-67 points.Nigeria which has the task of surpassing world basketball power-house Lithuania and South American strong side and host Venezuela in group-B of the qualifiers went on to defeat Fujian Quanzhou Bank basketball club by 84-56 points on June 14 and Shanxi Zhongyu basketball club by 94-80 points on June 16th the team last warm-up game on June 17th against Shanxi Zhongyu basketball club was still being awaited as at the time of going to press.The Nigerian side will have a taste of full national team action when it takes on Great Britain national team in Houston, United States of America on June 21st before honouring a 4-nation tourney from June 25-30 in Brazil where they will play against Greece, Brazil and New Zealand before heading for Caracas.
