Subsidy bribe: Farouk faces House panel today

The embattled former chairman of the House of Representatives ad hoc committee on subsidy regime, Rep. Farouk Lawan, is billed to appear before the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges today, Chairman of the Committee, Rep. Gambo Musa Dan Musa (CPC, Katsina), has said.Lawan was accused of collecting $620,000 bribe from an oil baron Femi Otedola in the wake of the consideration of the fuel subsidy report last April in what he called 'sting operation' with the support of security agencies.Speaking to Daily Trust yesterday on phone, Dan Musa said Lawan would appear before them at 12:30 noon today.Dan Musa also disclosed that Otedola will face the panel next week.Otedola had admitted to giving Lawan and the subsidy committee's secretary Boniface Emenalo $620,000 in the wake of consideration of the subsidy probe report.The House had during its special emergency session last Friday, directed the ethics committee to investigate the allegations and report back in two weeks.
