Soldiers intercept rocket launchers in Borno 'As Boko Haram claims responsibility for Sokoto bombings

THE Joint Task Force (JTF) on Operation Restore Order in Borno, in conjuction with the Department of State Services, Multi-National Joint Task Force and other security agencies have intercepted large consignment of arms and ammunition capable of destroying a whole city at Daban Masara, in Monguno Local Government Area of the state.A release by the JTF in Maiduguri, made available to the Nigerian Tribune on Tuesday, revealed that the suspects, who were killed in a battle with security forces at about 9.00 p.m on Monday, had in their possession eight rocket launchers, 10 rocket bombs, 10 rocket chargers, 2 AK-47 rifles and 13 magazines with six rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.According to the release signed by the JTF spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Sagir Musa, the security agencies were able to get the suspects based on intelligence.'The large consignment was being moved from Baga/Daban Masara heading towards Maiduguri in a blue Hilux vehicle, with registration number NGU 19 XA,' the release added.Meanwhile, the Jama'atul Ahlissunnah Lidda'awati Wal Jihad, also known as Boko Haram, has claimed responsibility for Monday's attack in Sokoto, as well as the recent one in Yobe State and the attack on the family house of the vice-president in Zaria.Spokeman of the sect, Abul Qaqa, said it would be recalled that the sect had promised that they would launch an attack in Sokoto, as a result of arrests of their members, adding that they had fulfilled their promises.'It is for this reason that we are warning the public to resist the temptation of relating with the security operatives by giving them information about us or our activities,' he warned.
