Ilawe traditional ruler congratulates Falana on SAN award

The traditional ruler of Ilawe community in Ekiti South West Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Oba Adebanji Ajibade Alabi, has congratulated an indigene of the community, Mr Femi Falana, on the conferment of the award of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) on him.The Alawe said in a statement made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti, that the conferment of the honour on Falana was 'well deserved and timely,' pointing out that it was observed that the achievements of Falana qualified him for the honour.Oba Alabi said he and the entire Ilawe-Ekiti joined other well wishers in congratulating him on the new status, and charged Falana to remain 'dogged in fighting the cause of the oppressed masses and other deeds of honour which distinguished him.'According to him, 'We consider this honour a well deserved one in view of your achievements at the Bar and contributions to the growth and development of the legal profession in Nigeria, the African continent and the whole world through your advocacies, seminars, lectures and free legal services to the oppressed.'We feel highly gladdened that this is happening at this time of a new dawn in Ilawe-Ekiti. It is our prayers that you will live long in the service of the downtrodden in our country and use the silk to effect positive changes in the socio-political sphere of Nigeria.'Mr Falana, a Lagos based lawyer and human rights activist, who hails from Ilawe-Ekiti, was recently conferred with the award of SAN, the highest honour in legal practice in Nigeria.
