Benue troupe emerges second best in global festival

NIGERIA'S representatives at this year's Seventh International Forcloth Silver Cultural competition in Malaysia, Benue State Arts Council, has emerged second best in performance beating 16 other countries.Briefing journalists in Makurdi shortly after their return, leader of the delegation and wife of the state governor, Mrs. Dooshima Suswam, said she was proud to fly the nation's flag in Malaysia, noting that the contingent's performance was very impressive, as they were rated high among other competitors.Mrs. Suswam added that the event, which lasted for a week, was an embodiment of variety of performances by the participating countries, with the Benue contingent showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the state to the admiration of the rest of the world.While stating that the trip afforded the delegates the opportunity to appreciate the cultural values of other countries, Mrs. Suswam said: 'Let me state here that the excellent performance of the delegation did not only do the state proud but also the entire country. My appeal to the people is for them to give all the necessary support to the troupe to keep on flying the flag of the state and nation high', she implored.
