Briscoe partners MOMTAN on fight against fake parts

BRISCOE Toyota, a subsidiary of R.T. Briscoe (Nigeria) Plc, in partnership with Motor Mechanics and Technicians Association of Nigeria (MOMTAN), recently unfolded plans to tackle distribution and useof fake spare parts.At a parley with the association during one of their general meetings recently, Briscoe Toyota explained the advantages of genuine parts and dangers of using fake auto spare parts.A statement issued by the company explained that It was pointed out that the use of fake parts contributes to accidents and loss of life, vehicle breakdown, reduction in the life-span of the vehicle and ultimately loss of valuable time and money, 'while genuine parts on the other hands helps in averting these unsavory situations'.Explaining further, Briscoe said: 'This is part of our strategy to entrench the culture of using genuine spare parts for auto repairs by the mechanics and technicians in the country. But beyond this, the members being the users of Spare Parts, the Company is also willing to support them regular supply of genuine spare parts at affordable rates to enable their members retain and maintain their existing chain of customers, attract and secure new ones and make more sales and profit in their businesses'.The Chairman of MOMTAN, Alhaji Arowolo, according to the statement expressed his delight at the step taken by R.T. Briscoe and his desire to partner with the company in achieving this feat.Arowolo was quoted in the statement as saying none of his members would claim not to have heard of, or transact businesses with RT Briscoe at one time or the other in the past, adding that the company is living up to a name that has become the generic name for Toyota Genuine Parts in the Nigerian Automobile market.According to the After Sales Manager, Mr. Johan Heydenreich, who was represented by the OTC- Parts Manager at the parley, Kehinde Lamina, an engineer, other benefits planned for the association include; discounted prices for volume purchase, special purchase discount prices for confirmed MOMTAN members, periodic training support from the company on new models of vehicles/Spare Parts and processing of warranty claims by the company on behalf of the mechanics on defective Spare Parts purchased.The statement added other associations such as National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), among others are scheduled to benefits from the partnership.
