Mass Comm students visit Erin-Ijesha

IT was a fun-filled and adventorous lifetime experience for the students of Mass Communication Department, The Polytechnic, Ibadan, recently, when they visited the Erin-Ijesa Waterfalls in Osun State.The mostly final year students could not resist the temptation of climbing to the top of the mountain and crawlling down to have the heaviest shower of their lives under the waterfalls.The President of the Association of Student Communicators (ASCOM), Comrade Olayinka Ogundare Davis, who thanked God for the success of the excursion, said the programme served as an opportunity for them to learn about God's creation. He said: "Our visit to Erin-Ijesa was an avenue to learn about God outside the four corners of our classrooms and we also used the excursion to ease the pressure on us as we prepared for our examinations."The president could not hide his excitement about the whole scenery as he enthused: "Though, it is a little bit scary up there, I enjoyed myself, truly, God is wonderful!"Earlier, the association paid a courtesy visit to the Palace of Ooni of Ife, Alayeluwa Oba Okunade Sijuwade, Olubuse II, where they caught a glimpse of the origin of Yorubaland.The students were taken round the significance places in the palace, especially the Wisdom Residence where presidents of the country, governors and chiefs used to pray for victory, success and favour in their respective endeavours. And also where the statue of a very brave woman of Ile-Ife then, Olori Moremi Ajasoro, is.
