Published by Guardian on Fri, 28 Sep 2012

AS part of activities to mark Nigeria's 52-year anniversary, publisher of Encomium magazine Kunle Bakare has unveiled plans to roll out the green carpet for the yearly Green & White Groove. Organised in collaboration with Primetime Entertainment, the event scheduled for October 1 at the Anchor Event Place, Agidingbi, in Ikeja, Lagos, is expected to bring together top celebrities, stakeholders in the country's showbiz industry and guests from the corporate world.Conceived as a platform to celebrate Nigeria's Independence Day, the groove has become a major part of the country's event calendar, especially with the green and white dress code. This year, the organisers promise to take the event to the next level with more star performances, higher celeb attendance, a new, improved venue, and thousands of patriotic Nigerians coming out to celebrate their country.'It's the biggest, most exciting party celebrating the most populous nation's independence anniversary. There are challenges, but every year, we move forward. This year, we're celebrating our nation, and the positive-minded citizens who are determined to make Nigeria great, in spite of the many hurdles on the way,' Bakare said.Already confirmed for the gig are DJs Jimmy JATT and Vinnie, as well as the Kennis Music All Stars.'We're having a dance and a party,' Kenny Ogungbe said, adding that the show will be broadcast live on the Kennis Channel on Startimes.'Lagos will rock for six hours uninterrupted on Monday,' Dayo Adeneye noted.
