HURIWA marks fifth anniversary today

HUMAN Rights Writers' Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) will mark its fifth anniversary today.As a part of the activities to commemorate the day, HURIWA would hold a public lecture and also honour the memory of the late Mr. Delight Igali of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly who died in an auto crash in Bayelsa a year ago.In a statement by the Chairperson of the organising committee, Nwamaka Asuzu, HURIWA said: ' Late Delight was known as 'Mr. Sincerity of Bayelsa politics' because of his avowed commitment to the institutionalisation of transparency, accountability and good governance'.HURIWA also stated that the occasion would be chaired by the Chairman of the National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Dr. Sam Amadi, while the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Mohammed Bello Adoke among other dignitaries, are expected to grace the event.'Human Rights Writers' Association of Nigeria is a registered non-governmental, non-profit and non-religious association of Nigerian creative writers, philosophers, journalists and humane thinkers dedicated to deploying their talents to promoting and protecting human rights and good governance through constructive dialogue,' the statement added.
