Bank organises cleaning exercise in Osogbo

In line with its commitment to promote community development and ensure cleaner and healthier environment, the First City Monument Bank Plc, Osogbo branch, has organised a one-day cleaning exercise to collaborate with Osun State government in its O'Clean programme.Addressing market men and women at Oke-Fia, Old-Garage and Orisunmibare, the state Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation, Professor Bukola Oyawoye enjoined the bank to also partner with the government towards making all nooks and crannies of the state beautiful."Cleanliness is next to godliness, they say, while prevention is better than cure, you don't need to go to hospital before seeing yourself as a healthy person, you need to start it somewhere by making sure you live and work in a healthy and hygienic environment," Oyawoye added.Prof.Oyawoye, who applauded the bank for its support and cooperation with Governor Rauf Aregbesola's O'Clean programme, emphasised that the bank had laid a good foundation for other corporate bodies to emulate. "The exercise is a good omen towards making life more bearable for the people of the state, yes, the FCMB Plc has made us proud," she said.Speaking at the exercise, the Osogbo branch manager of the bank, Mr.Olayinka Olorundare, stressed that, it was the social responsibility and decision of the bank to join hands with the Osun State government in ensuring that the state was clean and tidy.Olorundare said the cleaning exercise was packaged with a view to ensuring proper management and maintenance at not only the markets in the state, but also in all nooks and crannies of the state."We must take a step to avert epidemic diseases in the state, and for us to ensure this, it will take the collective efforts of all and sundry irrespective of religion. Prevention is better than cure, we must prevent ourselves from having malaria or cholera by making sure that we live in a clean and hygienic environment," Olorundare added.Also speaking on the exercise, the bank's Regional Head of Operations, Mr Ademola Idowu and the Regional Head of Control, Mr.Abubakar Soyemi, commended Aregbesola's administration for introducing the O'Clean programme for the betterment of the citizenry.
