Govt signs agreement for Abuja monorail development

THE suffering of Abuja commuters may soon end, as the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a private firm- Trans-Globim Nigeria Limited, for the development of the Abuja Monorail System.Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Bala Mohamed,who signed on behalf of the FCT Administration revealed that the idea has been fast tracked to provide additional modes of transportation to the teeming population of the Abuja metropolis and its environs in tandem with the Federal Government's Transformation Agenda.The minister disclosed that the system of transportation was to complement the planned Abuja Light Rail system, in order to tackle the chaotic traffic situation in and around the FCT.He said that satellite towns in the contiguous states would also be connected to the rail system.Mohammed assured that the planned Abuja Monorail System will not have cost implications on the FCT Administration.
