Benue varsity students protest non-accreditation of programmes

For the third time in this year, students of the College of Medical Sciences of the Benue State University, Makurdi, on Thursday, staged a protest against the delay of accreditation of the clinical stage of their programmes, as they locked up all entrances to the college and denied staff and other visitors access.The students insisted on seeing the governor or his deputy for a dialogue.Efforts by the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Charity Angya; Secretary to the Benue State Government, Dr David Salifu and Special Adviser to the Governor on Higher Education, Dr Agbo Madaki, to calm the students were rebuffed.Reacting to the development, Professor Angya denied any attempt to frustrate or slow down the accreditation process of the programmes.
