Police Arrest 41 Kidnappers, Robbers In Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command has said it arrested no fewer than 41 suspected kidnappers, cultists and armed robbers in parts of the state between Monday, August 8 and Wednesday, August 10, 2016.The commissioner of police, Mr. Francis MobalajiOdesanya, who disclosed this yesterday while parading the suspects before newsmen at the police headquarters in Port Harcourt, said among the suspects, 22 were arrested for cultism, 15 for kidnapping, while four were arrested for armed robbery.Odesanya stated that the Anti-Cultism Unit of the command, acting on a tip off. arrested one Promise Nweke, Bobo Prince, Highness Ogbuchi, Chile Owhor, Wisdom Weche, Glory Nnamdi and Promise Oligwe.The police commissioner, who was represented by the police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), OmoniNnamdi, said the suspects allegedly confessed to belong to Deygbam Cult group and were responsible for the various cult activities and killings around Rumuji/Emohua axis of Emohua local government area of the state.He stated that the Anti-Cultism Unit, also acting on a tip-off arrested eight suspected cultists, namely Ibim Michael, Apuo West, CotterellAdiebia, TamunoBraide, Ugochukwu Obi, Trinity Gorge, TonyeKaribo and George Goodluck at Buguma, headquarters of Asari-Toru local government area of the state.The police chief said the suspects confessed to belong to Ice-Lander secret cult and had been terrorising the Buguma/Abonnema/Degema axis of Kalabari Kingdom of the state before their arrest.
