2 accused of hitting cops at GOP convention plead not guilty

CLEVELAND (AP) ' Two men suspected of hitting police officers during a protest at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland have pleaded not guilty to assault and other charges.Authorities allege the men struck two officers during a flag-burning downtown on July 20, leaving the officers with minor injuries. The defendants entered their pleas Thursday, and each had bond set at $2,500.The defendants are 38-year-old Joseph Scogin of Oxnard, California, and 24-year-old Dominique Knox of Cleveland.The attorneys representing Scogin and Knox didn't immediately return calls Friday seeking comment on behalf of their clients.Scogin and Knox were among about two dozen people arrested at the convention over four days. About three-quarters of those arrests were from a melee that erupted during the flag-burning by avowed revolutionaries.Join the conversation about this story
