European stocks finished the day higher

European stocks finished the day higher on Tuesday as investors await the outcome of the French presidential election. The continent's major indexes all gained ground, with the three most prominent bourses ' Britain's FTSE 100, Germany's Dax, and France's CAC 40 ' all ending the day with marked gains. The trio finished the day up 0.62%, 0.56%, and 0.74% respectively. On the pan-European Stoxx 600 index, big risers included UK food retailer Ocado, which finished the day up 5.78% on news of a possible deal with supermarket giant Marks & Spencer, and BP, which closed up 1.6% after its profits tripled in the first quarter.Join the conversation about this story
