Kuje LG council begs FCT minister on completion of roads

THE Vice Chairman of Kuje Local Government Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Alhaji Dantani Dogo, has pleaded with the Minister of State, FCT, Chief Olajumoke Akinjide, whose office supervises rural development in FCT, to mount pressure on the contractor handling the 10 km road project connecting Kuje and Gwagwalada to complete the project on time.The project, according to the contractor, Crane Builders Nigeria limited, has reached 50 per cent completion but has experienced delay due to the rains.The contract, worth N880 million, was awarded in February this year and was expected to be completed by December this year.one hundred per cent mobilisation fee was said to have been paid to the contractor by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).Speaking when the Minister of State paid an assessment visit to the project site recently, the Kuje Area Council Vice-Chairman lamented that motorists suffered plying the road.He maintained that there was need to complete the project on schedule so as to ease access in the council.He told the minister, 'Please, I want you to use your office to speak to the contractor to speed the work, especially inside Kuje town because during the rainy season, motorists are suffering plying that route.'Responding, Chief Akinjide stated that FCT administration was determined to intervene to make sure that the infrastructure was supported.
