At the beginning of tournament play, it didn't seem likely for the No. 8 Sacramento Kings to face the No. 14 Houston Rockets in the 2014 NBA Summer League championship, but that's exactly how it played out. These two teams showcased a bevy of young talent in a highly contested game, ending in a 77-68 Kings comebackvictory. Here's a look at the team hoisting the Summer League trophy, via the Kings' official Twitter account:Sacramento put up 27 points in the fourth quarter to notch the win, and Ray McCallum Jr.'s efforts like this were a big reason why:Just as he's been doing since he arrived in Las Vegas, McCallum, a second-year point guard, stole the show, as he put his team on his back and carried it to victory.McCallum was a one-man wrecking crew for Sacramento, dropping 29 points and adding nine rebounds while netting nine of 15 attempts from the floor and going 3-of-7 from downtown. That effort from McCallum earned him the game's MVP honors, according to Zach Harper of CBS Sports:The Kings dominated the boards, outrebounding the Rockets 46-39 due to the efforts of McCallum, Eric Moreland and Quincy Acy, who combined for 27 boards.Moreland's presence on the interior was felt by Isaiah Canaan after this huge swat:Nik Stauskas didn't play a standout role on Monday, but his numbers were very solid. He finished with 10 points and four rebounds while going 3-of-6 from the floor and 2-of-3 from downtown. The only other player to reach double-digit points for Sacramento was Ra'shad James, who had a nice 12-point effort from the bench.Ben McLemore didn't exactly have a stellar day, hitting just four of 13 attempts from the field for nine points; however, he did flash his skills during this nice drive to the rim:Despite taking the loss, there was plenty to like from the Rockets.Nick Johnson led the way with 17 pointsincluding this nice reverse slamand added six rebounds:Donatas Motiejunas was a big threat inside, collecting six boards and 16 points. Cannan rounded out the big scorers for the team with a 15-point effort that included four rebounds and six assists. We already knew Canaan could shoot coming into the game, but he continued to showcase his well-rounded skill set:Tarik Black only recorded six points for the Rockets on Monday, but he was also the only member of the team to record double-digit rebounds with 10.Many of these young players showed plenty of moxie over the course of the tournament and will earn the chance to log plenty of on-court minutes for their respective teams in the upcoming NBA season.Although, until more workouts begin during the course of the summer, it will be McCallum and the Kings reveling in a great performance from Las Vegas.
