ASUU'S (WARNING) STRIKE

SOMEHOW, it is funny how the word 'strike' has come to collocate withASUU in Nigeria's industrial labour experience. It is like the surname of the acronym ASUU and it is almost impossible to say ASUU without mentioning strike, its assumed completion. The funny thing about ASUU is that its former members have been at the helm of affairs in Nigeria since the days of the late President Umaru Yar'Adua.NOW, the Minister of Education, Professor Rukayyat Rufa'i, is supposed to be a member of ASUU on sabbatical with the government. Even President Goodluck Jonathan must have been a member as a lecturer before politics winked at him and lured him away.WHY has it been impossible for ASUU to reach a common ground with its own' Is it possible ever for ASUU to be inventive in its mode of protest by shunning strikes' Even when it goes on strike justifiably, it resonates negatively with the public whose call for restraint ASUU needs to heed when a faithless and insincere administration steps on its toes.
