FG lied to international community on subsidy removal 'NLC

THE Nigeria LabourCongress (NLC), onWednesday, said the claim before the international community, at a press conference in Perth, Australia, by the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Deziani Allison-Madueke, that the Federal Government has not taken a decision on the removal of oil subsidy is untrue.Also, the NLC said the claim that no date had been fixed for the removal of the subsidy was calculated to mislead the international community and to lure Nigerians away from the on-going mobilisation against the policy.The labour union also said the announcement that a think tank was being proposed by the government on the subsidy issue was laughable, as it should have done so before announcing subsidy removal.The NLC president, Comrade Abdulwaheed Omar, said this on Wednesday, insisting that the position of the NLC was that 'our oil resources which should be an advantage to the country should be used for the benefit of the people and that Nigerians should have comparative advantage on prices of petroleum products over citizens of non-oil producing states.'He noted that 'the claim by the minister that President Goodluck Jonathan-led administration cannot please all the people all the time rings hollow.
