Uromi traditional ruler plans 20th coronation anniversary

Arrangements are underway for the 20th anniversary celebration of the coronation of the Ojuromi of Uromi in Edo State, Zaiki Anselm Edenojie II, which is billed for November 19.The chairman, Publicity Sub-Committee of the Coronation Anniversary Committee, Peter Iwelomen, said 'the historic event is expected to put together in joyous celebration, Uromi sons and daughters from far and near.'According to Iwelomen, 'The celebration is significant in that in His Majesty's reign in Uromi has witnessed unprecedented strides in socio-economic and political development. The degree of peaceful co-existence of the indigenes and sojourners alike in the land is one that other people in Nigeria should strive to emulate.'Meanwhile, Uromi town and its environs were reported to be in festive mood and the traditional ruler, fondly called 'The People's King,' was said to be happily looking forward to the event which would showcase the beauty of the people's culture.The celebration, expected to cover a period of seven days, would feature cultural dances, novelty match, lectures on the tradition and ways of life of the people, as well as other activities lined up to entertain guests.Iwelomen added that the grand finale of the event would be held on November 19 at the palace ground and that eminent personalities from all walks of life, friends and well wishers are expected from within and outside the country would converge on Uromi to celebrate with the king and the people of the kingdom, acclaimed to be the largest in Esan land, present day Edo Central Senatorial District.Uromi had been reported to witness tremendous peace and progress under Zaiki Anselm Edenojie II's 20-year reign so far.
