Court to issue warrant for Adedibu's aide, others

The Oyo State High Court 11, Ibadan on Thursday said it would issue a warrant of arrest for an aide to the late Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu, Mojeed Alabi, and two other persons if the police failed to produce them for prosecution.The three persons were accused in connection with the August 15, 2006 attacks on the premises of Pelly Foam Limited, an industry within the Dugbe Business District of the city.Justice Peter Ige said during Thursdays sitting that the court could not wait indefinitely for the police to produce the accused persons the Director of Public Prosecution in the state Ministry of Justice recommended for trial over the August 2006 attack.The attack was allegedly spearheaded by Adedibu and the late factional leader of the Oyo State National Union of Road Transport Workers, Alhaji Lateef Salako (a.k.a Eleweomo).According to the DPPs Legal Advice, Mojeed Alabi (a.k.a Yellow), Pastor Peter Asha and Sola Oyin-Adejobi, are to be prosecuted for invading the Pelly Foam Nigeria Limited, having forcibly attacked the industrial complex on August 15, 2006.Four counts of conspiracy, attempted murder, armed robbery and unlawful damage of some furniture and cars belonging to the Chief Executive Officer of the company, Mr. Dapo Davies, was instituted against the accused persons in the case suit number I/41C/2011.The Deputy Director of DPP from the state Ministry of Justice, Mr. L. A Ganiyu, who brought a holding charge against the accused persons, however, told the court he was surprised that the police did not bring the accused to court for prosecution, despite the necessary papers being served on them.Ige, said he might issue a warrant of arrest for the accused persons if they failed to show up at the next adjourned date.The case was adjourned till November 18 for mention. The trial judge advised the prosecutor to explore all necessary measures before the next adjournment.However, the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Moses Onireti, while giving reasons why his men failed to produce the accused persons in court, said he was not aware of the advice from the state Ministry of Justice on the matter.
