Published by Tribune on Fri, 05 Dec 2014

LAGOS State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has warned the various governorship aspirants on its platform to desist from maligning themselves in disguise, using different groups. The party gave warning on Thursday, through its publicity secretary, Mr Taofeek Gani, who addressed newsmen at the PDP secretariat at Ikeja, saying that any aspirant found to be culpable would be sanctioned. The PDP, which said it was reading a riot act to the affected aspirants, observed that such media attacks, though targeted at certain aspirants, would do more damage to the party. The PDP insisted that, the common enemy remained the All Progressives Congress (APC), counseling that warring aspirants should sheath their swords for now.The party said it had cleared all the seven aspirants to contest in the governorship primaries slated for Monday, while the eighth candidate, Dr Ade Dosunmu, had stepped down to contest for the Lagos Central senatorial race.According to him, those cleared to contest the PDP governorship primaries include former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro; Dr Adegbola Dominic, Mr Babatunde Gbadamosi, Mr Jimi Agbaje, Dr Deji Doherty, Mr Tokunbo Kamson and Mrs Modupe Chukwuemeka.Meanwhile, the party, on Thursday, reassured Lagosians and particularly it's members that contrary to the opinion of the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwanu Osuolale Akiolu, 'PDP remains the party to beat in the state at this time' and come 2015.The Oba had at a function in Abuja recently swore that PDP would never rule Lagos as the gods of Lagos would not permit that. The party, in a statement, asserted that 'only God can determine any future occurrence and no Oba should play God.
