Keshi lectures Eagles on image revival

Published by Tribune on Fri, 11 Nov 2011

NIGERIA'S coach Stephen Keshi addressed his players for the first time since he was named the team's head coach, admonishing them to see the task ahead of them as a serious business. The Big Boss as he is fondly called met with the players in Abuja where they are preparing for the friendly matches against Bostwana and Zambia in Benin City and Kaduna respectively. With almost all the invited players on ground, a delighted Keshi expressed happiness at their response to the call for the friendly ties, describing this as the best way to start the quest to bring back the good old days. While addressing them, the former Togo and Mali coach charged the players on the need to get serious and win back the hearts of soccer loving Nigerian who have lost interest in the Super Eagles following the team's poor runs in recent times. Keshi highlighted discipline, love, and commitment as the major tools needed to get the team back on the right footing, charging the players to cooperate with the new technical crew to make this dream a reality. After his first day of training with the players, Keshi said he was pleased with their attitude so far. "They showed good attitude this morning and the same thing this evening," Keshi said. I think they're beginning to change their mindset, they want to do something right this time and we just have to help them and be patient. Give them encouragement."These guys are not from Jupiter, they're human beings like us. It's not they can't make mistakes. We all make mistakes; it's just that we have to learn from our mistakes. Right now, what they're doing is very encouraging,'' he stated.
