Olowude commends PILA on insurance development

Executive Vice Chairman, Industrial and General Insurance Plc, Mr. Remi Olowude, has commended the role of the Professional Insurance Ladies Association in the development of the profession.He said this during the launching of PILAs N100m secretariat building, which is meant to become the new headquarters of the association in Lagos on Friday.Oluwude, who was also the chief launcher at the event commended efforts at inaugurating the new building for the association, noting that it would serve as a boost to the insurance industry.He said, The idea of erecting a physical structure to serve PILA is a logical progression from the original idea that culminated in the founding of the association. On completion, it will be a physical legacy, which generations of lady professionals will be duty-bound to build upon.According to him, the achievement of PILA is not surprising, considering the conditions for membership which included the possession of any of ACII, ACIIN, FCII and FCIIN qualifications.The President, PILA, Mrs. Funmi Folarin, said that the association comprised of women who had become a powerhouse of talent, energy, ability and achievements.She said, Indeed, it is to the credit of the tremendous commitment, energy and sacrifice of these true amazons of the insurance profession that PILA has continued to record great strides towards the attainment of the ingredients of its mission statement which is to provide a forum for developing and promoting forthright professional insurance ladies who are dedicated to upholding and projecting the practice and growth of the insurance profession in Nigeria.Folarin said that the building project was conceived more than a decade ago but took a definite shape with the acquisition of a parcel of land at Iwaya in December 2005.She said, Since that significant stride, the entire membership of PILA has remained focused and resolved to see the project to fruition with the support of all the stakeholders and the insurance industry.While commending the support of the male counterparts in the industry, she said, We believe that we have continued to earn the love, respect and support of these cherished captains of the industry and others through our demonstration of a singular commitment to the development of professionalism in the industry and the contribution of our members to the industrys fight for greater relevance in the scheme of things.
