Fanmilk soccer tourney ends in grand style

IT was a carnival like at the Police College pitch at Eleyele in Ibadan over the weekend when members of staff of the foremost dairy company, Fanmilk engaged each other during the final of soccer tourney organized by the company as part of its 50th anniversary.Team Strawberry defeated Team Fanice to lift the 50th Anniversary trophy in an exciting cracker watched by Oyo State Commissioner for Works, Commissioner for Environment and Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Dapo Lam-Adesina among other top dignitaries.In a bid to encourage the participants, apart from giant trophy won by the winner, many other valuable prizes were given out to individuals that distinguished themselves during the championship, as Segun Solomon emerged as the highest goal scorer of the tournament.The most valuable player prize went to Saka Folorunsho, while a Danish, Mogens Jensen won the most outstanding player of the tourney, with Lateef Jimoh of Team Strawberry emerged as best coach, Sunday Adeyemi kept a clean slate to win best goalkeeper.Speaking at the event, the commissioner expressed his gratitude to the company for its efforts over the years in supporting sporting activities and youths oriented programmes in Oyo State and Nigeria at large.He however, assured the company of the state government' supports in any area it might deem it necessary saying, 'the company is always conscious of its corporate social responsibilities and that is why we are proud to identify with them'.
