Two Persons Injured As Aircraft Crash-Lands In Kwara, NSIB Begins Probe

<blockquote><b>Two individuals sustained serious injuries on Thursday when a training aircraft crash-landed at the Ilorin International Airport in Kwara State, <a rel=ugc href="https://news360ng.com/breaking-two-injured-as-aircraft-crash-lands-in-kwara/">News360 Nigeria</a> reports.</b><br><br>The Director of Public Affairs and Family Assistance at the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), Mrs Bimbo Oladeji, confirmed the incident in a statement.<br><br><b>According to her, the aircraft crash occurred at about 5:28pm local time on May 23, 2025, during a simulated instrument approach exercise on Runway 05 of the airport.</b><br><br>She explained that the aircraft veered off the runway before coming to a stop on the grass verge, leaving both occupants of the aircraft seriously injured.<br><br><b>Both sustained serious injuries and were swiftly evacuated to a medical facility, coordinated by the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Oladeji stated.</b><br><br>Following the incident, the NSIB announced that its Go-Team was preparing to depart Abuja for Ilorin to commence an on-site investigation.<br><br><b>The team is expected to secure the crash site, gather physical evidence, speak with eyewitnesses, and recover operational data to determine the root cause and contributing factors.</b><br><br><b>The Director General of the NSIB, Captain Alex Badeh Jr., expressed sympathy for the victims, praising the emergency teams for their quick response.<br></b><br>He noted that uncovering the cause of the accident would help improve safety in the countrys aviation sector.<br><br><b>Our thoughts are with the injured, and we commend the swift medical and emergency response.</b><br><br><b>Now, our focus is on understanding exactly what went wrong.
