Bauchi airport ready to airlift pilgrims

The management of Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport Bauchi says the airport is ready to airlift pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for this years' Hajj.Manager of the airport Liman Kutigi told journalists in Bauchi that some of the recent new developments in the airport include construction of car park, expansion of access road into the airport and installation of Omni Directional Radio Range.The Manager saidfacilities at the airport can accommodate every aircraft at the rate of five at a time.Parts of the airport have been designated out of bounds to relatives restricted to a temporary transit camp.The manager said intending pilgrims wishing to carry little food items and kolanut are at liberty to do so, but should avoid going with bags of such items as they would be confiscated by customs officials.On what makes the airport one of the best in the country, Kutigi said Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport has lighting facilities that include Non Directional Beacon, Approach Light, Edge Light as well as a 1.5 kilometre crash road in case of emergency.
