When we launched Tbay in 2020, our goal was simple: to make digital trading and financial access easier for Africans. What began as a small idea among a few passionate minds soon turned into one of Africa’s most trusted platforms for trading gift cards and digital assets.

But even in those early days, we knew we wanted Tbay to stand for more than just smooth transactions. We wanted to create impact, something that would live beyond our screens.

That turning point came unexpectedly. Later that year, our team traveled to Ghana to meet local users and understand how they used Tbay in their daily lives. During that visit, we were invited to a nearby community school. The classrooms were filled with bright, eager children but many shared worn-out books, and some had none at all. That moment stayed with us. On our flight back, one question kept coming up in conversation:
“If every trade on Tbay could help one child learn better, how many lives could we change?”

That single question gave birth to Tbay Charity and our flagship initiative, 1000 Schools in Africa, a long-term commitment to support education in underprivileged communities.

Since then, we’ve reached over 80 schools across Africa, from Nigeria and Ghana to Cameroon, Uganda, and South Africa. We’ve delivered textbooks, writing materials, learning kits, and other essential supplies that help children stay in school and pursue their dreams.
