Ire Akari Estate residents celebrate, reward members

Chairman, Ire Akari Estate Landlords Association, Oluyole Extension, Ibadan, Oyo State, Mr Sulaimon Olanrewaju, has called for more cooperation from members of the community, especially the executive members of the association in the coming year, urging them to live up to expectation for the development of the community.Olanrewaju made the appeal during the 2014 end-of-year get-together of the association, Ire Akari Estate, where residents of the area gathered to appreciate God for preserving their lives in the outgoing year and to reward some outstanding members of the association, especially the executives for their outstanding contributions to the development of the community.It was an occasion to bond and renew ties as the residents came out in their numbers to felicitate with one another and to thank God for the gift of life. To them, 2014 was challenging, but they were able to overcome their difficult times through the grace of God and the cooperation of the members.Urging the members to use the opportunity to get close to one another, Olanrewaju said: 'I am of the conviction that it is not for nothing that we live on the same estate. God has brought us together for a purpose, but that purpose would not be realised until we get close to one another. So, let us mingle so that we can reap the benefits of our togetherness.'Highlighting the achievements of the executive members of the association, Olanrewaju, who became the chairman of the association in February 2014, expressed gratitude to members of the association for their support, saying the essence of the gathering was to avail the residents the opportunity to get to know one another better and to honour some members, who have distinguished themselves in their service to the community.The chairman also promised to introduce a Member of the Month Award for those who distinguish themselves in the course of a month, saying that it would trigger healthy competition among members of the community in the discharge of their duties.One of the members, who was commended by the community for his outstanding contribution to the development of the area was the immediate past caretaker chairman of Oluyole Local Government Area, Alhaji Abass Alesinloye, who was represented by his wife, Oluwatoyin. The former chairman received an award as one of the most distinguished residents of the area. Alesinloye was said to have used his position to give the area a facelift in terms of road construction and beautification.Other members who bagged the most distinguished residents' awards include, Mr Chuks Chimaeze; the immediate past chairman of the association, Alhaji Ramoni Raji; Mr Akinola Ebo, who anchored the event among others.
