FG committed to refurbishing hospitals - Minister

THE Federal Government has reiteratedits commitment to refurbishing tertiary health institutions in Nigeria.The Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu, said this at the dinner and award night of the University College Hospital (UCH), on Sunday, adding that the refurbishing and upgrading of hospitals in the country were necessary to ensure good health service delivery in the country.Professor Chukwu, represented by the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTH), Ile-Ife, Professor Olusanya Adejuyigbe, urged members of staff of the hospitals in the country to be committed to work.He lauded individuals and organisations that had been supportive to UCH while urging them not to rest on their oars.The CMD of UCH, Professor Temitope Alonge, earlier in his welcome address, said the management of the hospital had put in place machinery to ensure safety of patients.Professor Alonge commended the members of staff and corporate bodies for their support and contributions to the achievement of UCH's vision, mission and core values.The CMD enjoined the Ministry of Health to further empower the hospital with more funds, which, according to him, would enable it to deliver better services to the people of Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole.
