Akinjide inaugurates council projects

The Minister of State for Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Jumoke Akinjide, has inaugurated completed projects executed by the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC.).The projects include Jikwoyi phase 1-IV township road, a slaughter house in Karshi and fencing of Karu cemetery.They are beside the rural electrification projects in Kobi/Kpaduma, Gbaduwyi-kabusa and Kuyami villages; construction of PHC at Zhidu; fencing of PHC at Karmo; construction of comprehensive water scheme in Hulumi and borehole at Waru still under construction and which the minister inspected.Speaking during the inaugiration, Chief Akinjide described the ongoing projects and those completed as landmark achievements and noted that the FCT area councils needed improved funding to execute their many projects.The minister maintained that part of the efforts to ensure transformation agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan was to resurrect the defunct Satellite Towns Development Agency and empower it to work alongside the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) so that it can effectively drive development of the satellite towns and the Area Councils while the FCDA concentrates on development of the Federal Capital City.She observed that a lot still needs to be done in the areas of provision of sanitation, security and other social amenities in AMAC.
