Kidnapping will end in six months, says IGP

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Hafiz Ringim, yesterday declared that the wave of kidnapping across the country would become history within six months. Ringim, who spoke in Abeokuta at a seminar organised by the Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) as part of its Annual Press Week, said the Nigeria Police had already devised strategies to effectively combat and stamp out kidnapping from the country. He also disclosed that the Federal Government had improved the capacity of the force by providing sophisticated communication gadgets and training of personnel to handle deployment of technology, among others, for security surveillance.
