Impressive Quadri set for bigger challenge

Maputo 2011 All Africa Games table tennis bronze medalist, Aruna Quadri, is already looking ahead to more challenges in the Portuguese table tennis league despite a fantastic month in the European country. The 22-year-old, who plays for GDSR Os Toledos, was named the Player of the Month by the Portuguese Table Tennis Association after an unbeaten run in Portugals topflight table tennis league. He was also named the best player in the league in his first season with Associao Recreativa Novelense. Quadri, who has qualified for next years Olympic Games, is yet to lose a match since September and has helped Toledos to the top of the league table with 21 points from seven league games. The former Union Bank of Lagos player said, "It is great to be named the best player in Portugal because of its competitive nature. I have played against their best players as well as some of the top Chinese players in the league. "But I will continue to work hard to ensure that I justify my joining Toledos this season. Although I am expecting tough challenges ahead because we still have lots of matches to play this season." According to the Portuguese Table Tennis Association, the player of the month award was given to Quadri following his brilliant performances against the top three players namely Zheng Shun, nio Mendes and Andr Silva.
