Apapa ready for Lagos Junior League 2nd stanza

PLAYERS and officials of Apapa Golden Stars have reiterated their determination in lifting the Lagos Junior League title as the second stanza resumes this weekend.According to Apapa Golden Stars Secretary/Media Officer, Emmanuel Tobi, the coach Nathaniel Olagunju-tutored side currently tops the 14-teams table after seven games gathering 16 points from 5 wins, 1 draw and recording a loss in their opening match of the season.General Manager of the team, Honourable Owolabi Adele believes the team is battle ready to tackle all other team while praising the Chairman of Apapa Local Government, Honourable Ayodeji Joseph for his financial and moral support which has propelled the team to its present position.'Our target is to maintain our position till the end of season as we have fortified the team with additional players. The team is well motivated courtesy of our sports loving chairman who has been the driving force of the team,' he expressed.Hon Owolabi while commending the standard of officiating in the league however expressed disappointment on the non availability of cash prize for the winner.'My only source of concern is that there must be a token no matter our little for the winners at the end of the season. The Lagos Junior League Management must work on modalities in attracting sponsors in order to sustain this noble idea which is aimed at genuine grassroots development,' he added.Similarly, Coach Nathaniel said: 'We have corrected all the lapses noticed in the first stanza as we inject the new players we signed during the mid-season transfer window. 'We have who is the current highest goalscorer with 10 goals with us alongside three other players from Surulere Local Government.
