Lagos inferno: Transport companies count losses

AFTER the Lagos tragedy involving a petrol tanker which left three persons dead and 40 vehicles burnt on Saturday at Mile 2, six transport companies, operating at the scene of the incident, are currently counting their losses as commercial activities gradually returned to the park on Monday.The scene of the disaster is also gradually returning to normal as the burnt vehicles had been evacuated by the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation.The inferno destroyed inter-state buses known as hummer buses which belonged to different transport companies.According to reports, two of the buses belonged to Muyi Motors, another two belonged to Ufuoma Motors while the other two were owned by Lord Banner Motors.It was further gathered that three buses, belonging to Edegbe Motors, JIL Motors and Osariemen Motors were consumed by the fire and four others which belonged to unidentified motor companies.Futhermore, five LT commercial buses and one towing van were burnt. Seven Madza buses and eight Madza taxi cabs all parked at the scene of the incident were all burnt beyond repair.
