Katie Holmes releases statement about Leah Remini: I'm sorry

Katie Holmes isn't appearing on Friday's "20/20," despite an announcement that she would by ABC News.In lieu of her appearance, Holmes released the following statement to Us Weekly:"I regret having upset Leah in the past and wish her only the best in the future."The statement arrived after ABC News' Dan Harris announced on Friday's "Good Morning America" that Holmes who was married to Scientology's most famous member Tom Cruisewould be making an appearance and disclose "what she is now saying about Leah."In the interview, former Scientologist Remini said that any criticism of Cruise was as if one were criticizing the Church.She also explained how she was punished for saying something to Cruise and Holmes during a social visit.Remini recalled receiving a request from Cruise to teach him salsa dancing. When she and her husband, Angelo Pagan, who happens to be a salsa musician, arrived at Cruise's home,he wasn't alone. They were joined by Holmes, and two "high-ranking" Scientology officials."He was forcibly kissing Katie and I said, 'Eh, get a frickin'room'' and, well, I was written up for that," said Remini, whose new tell-all memoir,"Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology," is out on November 3.It's unclear if Holmes' statement is referring to the incident above.Holmes, 36, was married to Cruise from 2006 to 2012. They have a nine-year-old daughter together named Suri. Holmes has been very tightlipped about Scientology, since leaving Cruise.
