Family Seeks Justice Over Alleged Murder Of Three Sons

THE family of Chief Essien Akpabio of Mente Village, Nkari Clan, Ini Local Council of Akwa Ibom State has appealed to President Goodluck Jonathan, the Director General of State Security Service, Inspector General of Police and the Senate President David Mark, to intervene in the alleged murder case of three brothers ' Charles Akpabio, 39, Emmanuel Akpabio, 32, and Joseph Akpabio, 28.In a press conference convened by Lady Apostle Helen Ukpabio, the representative of the family and the family lawyer, Barrister Victor Ukutt, in Lagos at the weekend, Lady Ukpabio stated that her life and that of her entire family members were being threatened by a security agent with the connivance of others.The three brothers were allegedly killed with a few other youths on Sunday, March 25, 2012 for alleged involvement in armed robbery.But Ukpabio said her brothers were killed because of a N500m compensation, which the Federal Ministry of Water Resources had approved to pay to owners of a land, where a Dam is being constructed in Nkari Clan.The Guardian reached the security operative said to be complicit in the alleged murder on his mobile phone but he declined comment.Lady Ukpabio said: 'My father, Chief Essien Akpabio owns 80 per cent of the land; Some people, who were not happy with the development, have been doing everything possible to eliminate the entire family.She urged the Federal and state governments to arrest those that were involved in the alleged extra-judicial killing of her three brothers. Ukpabio also pleaded with government to assist in the recovery of their bodies.
